    I must agree with the previous advice. I feel the belt and buckle throw off the lines of the waistcoat.

    I agree. No belt if you're wearing a waistcoat.
    However, you can wear a belt and sporran together. If you're wearing them at the right level neither of them will scratch the other.

    Me personally, I have no choice. I wear my sporran with hangers, instead of a chain belt, so if I don't wear a belt, I don't wear a sporran. And that is itself not an option.

    I would absoultely not wear a belt while wearing a waistcoat. And, as everyone's said, a waistcoat should ALWAYS acompany the PC. I wore a PC for my wedding (a rental) with not belt. I own an Argyll and waistcoat set these days, and NEVER wear a belt with the waistcoat. Aside from tradition, a belt just doesn't look at all right with a waistcoat, as well discussed here already.

    But you DO have the option to wear the sporran on a sporran strap/belt (chain or otherwise) rather than the "hangers." Maybe not a preference, but certainly an option.
