Just to give a different perspective, many of you know that I have a most supportive spouse when it comes to kilting. A few days ago I had to wear p@#$% due to physical reasons. When my wife saw me she asked "Is everything OK? Why are you wearing p@#$%?" Ain't life grand?

Good for you, you're going to wear the kilt regardless of what others think. With all due respect to your sister-in-law, she needs to get out more and learn more about the world.

Wasn't it your mother and mother-in-law who colluded on kidnapping your kilts once? Sounds like you are making progress!

Everyday Sister-in-law
If she doesn't approve of a kilt every day she must not be an every day sister in law. Time to change that girl. I'd wear one more often if my work would permit me to. Only we know how comfortable they are.

I wore my SWK Irish Nat. kilt to a family get together this past saturday night, and I was given a hard time by my aunt, who was down from New Jersey, but she did admit that I looked handsome in it.

A sister-in-law from Michigan? An aunt from NJ? Gives credence to the stereotype that Yankees have no manners to speak of.

It's all in getting used to and seeing kilts more frequently. Since school is out I've worn pants on only two or three occasions in the past three weeks.
It's great, and my family and friends are coming to expect it of me. The more they see, the more they get used to kilts, the more comfortable I can be!
So, give it a go and I like the idea of helping your Brother into an SWK, great entry to kilting!

What Panache said. Graciously allow her to wear her kilts only on special occasions.

The more you wear it, the more they all get used to it, and the better off everyone is. There will always be those with difficulties, but how you react to them is up to you.
Smile, wear the kilt with confidence, and people will be fine with it the vast majority of the time and places. It gets easier to ignore them all the time you wear your kilt.
