In reply to her comment about your kilts being dresses, and changing your name to Antonia, I would have brought up the fact that 1st Sgt. Dwayne Farr, USMC wore a non-traditional, camouflage kilt in Iraq. That he did so while playing taps on the bagpipes with the banner of the United States Marine Corps flying from the pipes. Then I would have ask her what name she thought he should have gone by.
That would have left her with a rather difficult afternoon of work when trying to answer the phone and only being 2 inches tall. Forget about her.

Sucks to hear that you had to put up with that, man. Hopefully she won't have to fill in too often.

Yes, but, in my experience, some folks choose to avoid any cure.

Sounds to me like she's the type of person that has to put others down to make herself feel big. She probably has to be right all the time. I'd say she probably has some self-esteem issues and probably a bit of an inferiority complex. She may just need some counseling. Naw... I wouldn't pay any attention to her crap.

Of course, if you're posting and reading this from the office, your boss's wife is just the smartest, most insightful person you've ever met, right? RIGHT?
Regards,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

I am reading this from the office. I do know that they log everything I type and no doubt read it, (although they could find better things to do with their time.)
Call me arrogant, but that doesn't bother me.

Which is fine, after all, she is just the boss' wife.
No REAL say on work matters, I hope for your sake.

Well, that's up in the air. I just work there. Been there from the start and still "just work there..." it'll always be that way. I'll be out of there soon enough.

I've been at jobs where I've "just worked there." Not a good place to be, unless it offers you the freedom to work on what you love.
I had a similar experience with a Scotsman, who was kilted. He called my UK a FING SHAMMY! He seemed personally insulted that I wore it and dared to call it a kilt.
Everyone's got an opinion, and everyone thinks theirs is right.

How low will she go?
I agree with the low self-esteem assessment of your bosses wife. There's a woman at my office who constantly criticizes people to their face! She'll say things like, "Why are you wearing that?", or "What's with the hair?"..........you get the idea. She's single, a bit overweight, and obviously very unhappy with her life, despite the fact that she makes a butt load of money. Throwing insults at people deflects attention from oneself, a ploy that's common to people who are envious of someone else. The fact that you would wear a kilt proudly, especially one you've made yourself, probably just eats away at her because she must not have a creative bone in her body.
Wear your kilt and let losers like her keep making fools of themselves.
Regards,
RB
