I'm glad that somebody else noticed this!
Daron does put solid work into each kilt and he has his fans. I hope to meet him and see Alphakilts in person in late September.

I love my Alphakilt as well, and I must say their design is brilliant. It seems (and I'm just guessing) they take an appropriate length of prefabricated pleated material (2 lengths in the case of the reverse kingussie style knife pleated kilt) hem it, taper it, sew a cap on the under apron and attach the over apron. After that it's just snaps, belt loops and maybe pockets. Pretty simple for a custom job, and especially for such a high quality kilt.
By the way, I too find the under apron pocket a little small. I originally planned to use it for my wallet, but it is just too narrow. However, I do recommend finding something that fits in it (I use a tiny bible) as it can help the under apron fall between the legs when sitting, and when the material gets broken in, it can protect you on a windy day.

Personally, I love the AlphaKilt look, actually all of their designs. He has a new on rolling out, it's quite handsome. The material is awesome.
I haven't met one person who was unhappy with Daron's service, he is a heck of a guy, kiltmaker and veteran!
I have a great pic of a serious AlphaKilt kilt check I have to post.
Semper Fi!

Thanks for all the kind words from all of you. The pleats are 2.5 inches wide. I was not sure what an X-Kilt was so I did some googling and found a pdf online. I would say that although there are inherent similarities between the two, those same things would be found on any box pleated kilt. I have been making box pleated kilts for a while, prob since 2000. As far as modern box pleats the first one I made was around 2005. It is a great pdf and recommend it to anyone who wants to make their own modern box pleated kilt. And if anyone needs help making a kilt you can feel free to email me anytime, I always happy to help. Also if you would like a free coupon I can email you a code that will give you a discount when you checkout of my website. Take care brothers.

Congrats, KC!
Very nice kilt!
Daron is quite the craftsman, and one heck of a great guy... a rare commodity these days. Several of us have the privilege to talk with him, via voice chat, frequently. His passion for his handiwork is evident, when he speaks.

Daron, if I'm not mistaken you offer additional pockets as an option on one or more of your models right? someone mentioned an interior pocket. I love your work and every one I've seen in person and of my friends has been very impressive.

Found em! Just some AlphaKilt pockets......
The 'built in' ones as opposed to the detachable pocket models.

Under apron pocket.
(Pardon my pink plaid flannel PJ's)
Passed inspection.

If I'm not mistaken Daron was trained in Scotland. One day I shall own one myself.

Speaking of pockets, I hear talk of rear and slash pockets in the future.
