From the Cape Fear Valley, NC USA. We even have a township in our county named for a highland regiment from the great unpleasantness of the 1770's (our county is named after "butcher Billy", Duke of Cumberland)

from South Wales!
The kilt is a garment that most people associate with Scotland and Scottishness and it's a culture shock for them when they hear accents other than a Scottish one from the wearer or see them worn in countries other than Scotland.
Last week I was on holiday in Tenby and sporting my St Davids Cilt and even though it's the best known Welsh tartan I had a fair share of "och aye the noo" etc. One lady though automatically addressed me in Welsh as I presume she associated a Welsh cilt automatically with being a Welsh speaker.
But wherever it is worn expect more compliments than anything else - I certainly find that to be the case!

Welcome from Albany, NY! As far as I'm concerned, 1/4 Scot is still Scottish (and I'm not just saying that because I happen to be 1/4 Scot )

Welcome from Carolina. My mom was English (Bootle) and my dad was 2nd generation Irish (County Cork). I have to go back to my Great Grandmother on my mom's side (Hamilton) to to find Scotch ancestry. But, who cares! Anyone can wear the kilt! Enjoy!
