Ideally, I'd like a location within the Jessamine county limits, in the opposite direction of expansion, surrounded by either farms or non residentials. The reason being, I want to build an outdoor range I can use on my property without noise complaints, city ordinance violations, or the like.

Remember, take the training seriously(it will save your life) study the legals/classroom stuff at night(it will wash you out of the Academy quick if you don't) and keep your boots polished and your uniform pressed(it will save your ears from Cadre making an example of you).

Hope you enjoy your time there!

As I've been through both Marine Corps boot camp and several academies, I'm sure I'll have the process down by now. When I was in KS, I had the highest GPA in the class and was to get an award for my marksmanship score (2nd again! Dammit). Thanks for the advice none the less.

Ok, didn't realize you've already been through it all. So this will be like a 22 week vacation for you then I went back to the academy here in SC last year, and was amazed at all the 'kids' reactions to life there. It's about as laid back and easy-going as can be, at least in my opinion, but the 'kids' rarely stopped complaining about how tough it was. I remember having to show some of them how to march(commands, etc.) and how to press a military pleat into the shirts. Big fun

    Enjoy the vacation

Well, it wasn't my best performance but I did what I could. My AC is out at my house (AGAIN!) so I had to stay up and wait for the HVAC guy(I work 3rd shift and get off at 0700). He has to come back tommorrow to test it out but luckily it was mildly cooler today.
By the time I got there (15 minutes early) I was pretty awake. Walked in and got almost immediatly directed into the staging area where I had my picture taken and they collected my background information packet. Figured I'd sit there for awhile but got directed inside within a minute. Six people awaited me (3 men [Chief, asst. Chief, and head of Ops]and 3 women[Victims advocte, Prosecutor, and a local business owner] where the Chief asked me to sit, introduced himself and told me how this would go. Counterclockwise, each person would introduce themselves, ask me a question and let me respond. This would happen twice.
Unfortunetly, I wasn't on my A game (hey, I was tired. Imagine having a job interview at 3 AM) and stumbled on a few of my words or had to change direction on the fly because I couldn't think of the correct word.
I think the only time I saw someone visably impressed is when I told them I put myself through TASER instructor school and the Handgun/Shotgun instructor on my dime because "I saw a need and knew the department didn't have the budget to send me, so I took vacation to do both."

While I was waiting outside I did notice (Plain view!) a list of who was interviewing today and what their test score was on the written. There was about 12 names on the list with 4 with higher scores.

I wish I could do it over but you generally only get one chance in my line.
