    Tartan ID

And..........if you don't know the name of the tartan, it might be fun to make one up, like the MacDaft of Bedlam, (an asymetrical tartan of course,) or the Sherman of Atlanta, (lots of reds and yellows,) or even the Lemur of Madagascar,( striped black and white of course.) Someone will jump in and correct you anyway so the mis-information won't get far. Just a thought.

Well, even listing the wrong tartan it would probly get corrected
Mostly I would like to see tartan listed especially if the poster is wearing the kilt. Course, maybe they dont want anyone else wearing a kilt that looks as nice as theirs ;)

And if your Avatar is a tartan, maybe list that tartan in your signature.

Then there is the Clan MacThrift who ran a savings and loan in the Sandhills of NC a few years back. I do think is is an excellent idea, in so far as is possible/practical. But one word of caution, false info has a bad habit of developing a life of its own, especially on the internet! So do try to be accurate

    A very useful idea!

Sometimes the picture or the lighting can lead to confusion and you might think it's one tartan when it's actually something different!

OK, I'll make a start (if my signature can be read). It should say MacDonald.

Wonderful! I always catch myself asking what the tartan is. This would be good to broaden my "internal database" of tartans!
