I'm starting to believe that Barb works on kilts only when in motion - an utterly amazing feat considering how straight all of her lines are. Both of my Tewksbury's were made in the passenger seat of her car, I'm told.

Well, that's going to be one lucky weathered Douglas!

Barb what interesting work stations you seem to find for your kilt crafting. BTW is that the tartan you were demonstrating folding pleats with in the recent tv clip?

Mine was worked on in the car on the way to Albuquerque New Mexico, so Barb working on a kilt at an airport just does not surprize me one bit. That is a wonderful tartan, congratulations to the new owner.

Your talent with a needle is of great renown. Your ability to work in challenging situations has been commended. I would like to take a moment to compliment your obvious gift for packing luggage. It is amazing that you can travel with a project such as this considering current baggage restrictions. Well done!

Great picture. I always pictured kiltmaking being done on a large table.

Nope - the way I was taught to make a kilt, it's done in the lap.

Barb....you really brighten up that dull, drab airport. I almost got arrested in the airport. The customs screener stopped my wife to talk about her middle name. I tried to go back to find her, and the officer put me against the wall. All that in less than 5 minutes between planes.

NEVER MIND!!! got the poster to work. 42 megabytes!!!!!

I'm not showing you the paper/abstract I'm giving at SIGUCCS this year. Not a chance! I actually feel guilty presenting it, it's just to keep the boss happy.

    ********

After a quick scan of the poster.

That's right, now I remember what you work on. If you EVER get out here, I'm going to haul you down to some of the deformation zones in the marine terraces in Santa Cruz, and if you're here for a long time, we'll have to do a trip down highway 395, which is basically a tour of a the most active volcanic area in California....Mono Lake, June Lakes, and so on. There are a couple of wonderful flows just off the road, "hot creek" which is a geothermally heated vent that warms up about 200 feet of one of the local streams, Devils Postpile (basalt columns) and fun stuff like that!

Not hard to envy the fortunate fellow who will be wearing the weathered Douglas...
