Hi Peter and a warm welcome for your return to XMtS.
I live in southern England and I wear "modern" kilts just as much as I wear traditional ones but, alas, I was not in Dalkeith yesterday (nor at any time recently), and I have heard of X Marks the Scot - so it was not me! Let us hope that the gentleman you met now registers with the forum as soon as he returns home.
Modern, or contemporary, kilts are always with me when I visit Scotland and I have to say that I have never been mocked because of them when north o' the border.
