Not my cup of tea, but kudos to those in the goth/punk/industrial crowd who blaze their own path.
The world is big enough for all sorts of takes on the kilt (just don't try and wear one of those Tripp kilt like a traditional kilt or call it such)

This is not directed solely at you, but you did bring it up, so it's a good segway to a question I have... Why does anyone care if more people get into wearing the kilt? I wear my kilt because of my family heritage, and I wear it when I chose to. I don't need to see half of the planet in one to feel comfortable, or a movie star in one to feel validated. Why are some on this board obsessed with getting more people to wear kilts?

This "use the search function" has also been discused in other treads. Navysqueaker found a kilt related link and wanted to share her thoughts and opinions, and others replied including a mod.. if you feel that this topic has run it's course in other treads then stayout of it and let others talk rather than jump on new enthuseastic members who came to the party late.

I'm all for ANYTHING unbifurcated for men...FREEDOM is contagious.
I guess I "care" because I'd like to be kilted without having to answer so many inane questions...just be accepted. I cannot help but see the parallel to the days when women wearing pant suits to the office was considered unacceptable and strange, but bold women persevered until pants were, and remain, accepted for women.
And I'm with Frank. This board has talked about most everything there is to talk about yet we still have enthusiastic newcomers arriving every day. In real life we don't "not" talk about a subject because we talked about it once before. Same thing on this board. If folks wanna talk, let them talk. Sad to see enthusiasm dashed with the Search Function.
Tell you what. I've often known an old post I was looking for and have had to spend a LOT of time being creative with my search words to bring it up. A more daunting task for a newcomer to the board.
Me, I enjoy newcomer enthusiasm. It keeps the board juicy for me. And...who knows what new board members since the last thread have to contribute?

I'll keep the "SEARCH" in mind. . . . But you know what as some of the nicer guys have said, if you think the subject is done and dead then don't read it/reply/or post. . . . cause obviously you don't have anything to add. . . .. . . .
anyway back to the subject, the ones i saw were ok, i might get one if i wanted something that wasn't that expensive to wear to a concert or something that might see it getting damaged

It's nice that it gets a fresh start though, not like the 210 page do/don't thread...

I am by no means an old timer to this group but i'm not a newbie either.
I can remember at least two threads that I started when i was new to the group, and that same thing of someone saying this subject has been talked about many times before and referred to some older thread.
To be perfectly honest with you it sort of Teed me off,and I came close to just canceling my membership and going somewhere else.
Glad I did'nt because I don't thing theres a better Kilt Group on the net.
So if you see a post you have seen many times before and don't wish to add a comment than don't.
I see nothing wrong in referring someone to another thread if it is for the purpose of showing them something they might be looking for,a pic of something they are talking about,or looking for,but to say this has been talked about to many times before is just plain rude.
I return you now to the topic of this thread.

Well, very simply, because I like them, and would like to see more around. I don't give a rat's rear end about the validation. I just happen to think the look more classy than most pants. So yes, I would like to see more people wearing them, weather it be those of us showing our pride in our heritage by wearing our family tartans, or people with no Scottish, or even Celtic blood, at all wearing more modern variants. It's because I like to see a little variety. That's why I would like to see more people wearing the kilt. I also like seeing that more people of African ancestory are ditching the FUBU garbage and wearing some of the more tradition African styles on offer. There are a couple families who go to my parent's church who wear their African clothes. It's beautiful, and makes the appearance of the congregation a little more diverse. So I guess the truth is that I don't so much care that more people wear the kilt so much as I like seeing people branching out from the trousers-and-tie norm. Check out Ron/Riverkilt and his photo gallery for a prime example of what I like seeing.
