In Australia, whe I was a little boy, it used to be
"Guy,Guy, stick him up high
a pound of cheese to choke him
a bottle of wine to wash him down,
and a great big fire to roast him!"
It was finally done away with because of fire hazard and replaced by Australia Day which is earlier in the year.(Even more fiery if you ask me..)
How about just staying in an watching V for vendetta... maybe some firecrackers in the fireplace.

l wish they would do that in this country, the fireworks here go on for approx- from 31st October & well past 5th November.
Used to be like that here also, thankfully they got sick of it and changed, every blinkin night yaa would hear them going off for a month either side...great for the pets.
