Greetings and welcome to the forum. Ron has pretty much covered all your questions. I don't think I can add anything.

A narrowish apron with deep under apron pleats - as you sit down the aprons stay vertical.
The first shot of Riverkilt seated is slightly - worrying - let us say. More fabric in the under apron pleats would enable a greater crossing over of the aprons and more concealment of under apron skin.
It is OK between friends but might be rather disconcerting to passers by with children in tow - should there be any.
I make my own kilts, so I can tailor them to my requirements and I have no fear of stiles, locked gates or other obstacles.
I have the breakdown of widths of pleats aprons etc for several lightweight kilts I have made, if you'd like to see them.
I find putting a hem or adding a tape to the lower edge of a lightweight fabric kilt helps to keep it down and adds to the swing of the pleats.
