It's my understanding that acetate is the material that is likely to melt or catch fire, and that Poly-VisCose is reasonably safe. But I would recommend testing any very inexpensive garment instead of trusting the vendor's labelling. Find an unfinished edge somewhere inside the garment (not at all difficult with cheap garments), pull off a few threads and hold them over a flame. Acetate will burst into flame, PVC will burn but not vigorously, and wool will burn only while in the direct flame.

Of course it is wise to keep all clothing away from open flame, but I think acetate is the material to shun most vehemently.

I have just learned from my Aunt that my father’s family has a Hamilton line. (Hamilton has been used by the Easter family as a middle name for both males and females for many generations) On hearing this, my mother asked me if that meant a new kilt in the Hamilton tartan for my collection. I told her no..but now after seeing yours.. Thanks Cousin Alex!!!
    It looks great on you.

Thanks for showing us this kilt, and for having the honesty to say that it's an inexpensive E-bay item (like some of my kilts!). I have been considering such a kilt from the same seller...Would look good with grey hose and a chunky sweater. Cheers,Tim.

I have just been on heritage of scotland and they are offering the Hamilton Grey tartan in wool now made to measure in 5 or 8 yard kilts. I might get one what do you think of it.
