Well having seen those rosette thingies on kilts with a pin - why not?

Technically though, Trefor, the rosettes you mention are part of a uniform.

Go ahead for casual; but, for semi-formal and formal, nah.

I would say don't wear a kilt pin if you don't want or need to; they didn't before the Victorian era. If you must, I would say only wear one. Kilt pins run the risk of getting your kilt snagged on something, so two would be twice a likely to cause problems.

So do you think they had this same argument back then?
"Why Finn, you look quite silly wearing that shiny pewter thing on your kilt! Why on earth would you dare to wear such an atrocity when we have done well for so long without it?"
and Finn kindly replies "Because there are no rules, just conventions. I feel like changing things up a bit. Maybe it will become popular"
I think things change. Be bold and wear two if you'd like. maybe it'll catch on.
Personally, however, I wouldn't.

I would not and I think most Scots would not wear two kilt pins. I am sure it has been done, but why, I ponder, would anyone want to wear two kilt pins? Apart from showing off a certain blue dirigible, of course!

There is great wisdom in this, Countmount.
Because Scottish attire is quite colorful, and there are already a lot of shinning bits to begin with; e.g., silver buttons, a buckle, a badge, etc., there really is no need (or desire, I'd think) to add more shinning bits.

It seems to me that I saw some photos here on XMTS that showed some kilt wearers wearing 2 pins. In the last 2-3 weeks??? Because I remember thinking "hey he has 2 kilt pins on!". I'll try and find it.
Cheers,Leslie
