    Cool

    I just ordered a 16oz Scottish National 8yd kilt form scottishtartan.net on 1/28
Since then I have gotten one acknowledgment email and another giving me the order number and encouraging me to email. I made no specification re delivery date. The price was $184 (they are using 1USD=I.27 UKpound)
BTW I also purchased some hose, ghillies and a shirt
I will keep u up to date on their level of communication and arrival time and send a pic when we get the regalia assembled on the old bod for which it was bought.
This will be my first traditional kilt. Wish me luck.

I was surprised to find that my master card did not take a hit immediately after I purchase the above kilt. I now am dismayed as I watch the price of the dollar in pounds rise on a daily basis (now about 10% more than when I thought I ordered it). Moreover, the sale by which I purchased this kilt is now is finished but the email I received acknowledging the order has no detail about price at all, even in GBP.

I emailed them twice from the site "Contact us" Feb 1 and Feb 10 with no results to date.

They really aren't good at communicating are they. I ordered a Wallace jacket from them recently and had questions but they never responded at all. I ordered anyway because of the sale price and other than being sent to the wrong person initially, I got it in about 2 weeks and I love it. Hopefully it will end as well for you.

    My first kilt was from scottishkilts.net ... a 5-yard 13 oz. "Irish-American Tartan".
My Prince Charlie is also from there, as well as many kilt pins, broaches, sporrans, etc.
It is not the best.. but not the most expensive either. I'd say it's well worth the cost.
My only issue from them has been my Fly-Plaid.. ordered it 3 months ago... still no sign.

They have recently cancelled their previous "kilt day" special of a 16oz 8yd machine sewn tank in a select group of tartans, a deal from which several of us here I know ordered IoS tanks from. Unfortunately the rest of their kilt prices also went up in the last month or so for some unknown reason. Actually their "father" site Tartanweb (see advert above) used to have identical prices but now appears to have better prices than Scottishkilts.net on kilts at least. They recently revamped their website and there are still a few glitches to deal with.

My second Scottishkilts.net kilt (machine sewn 13oz 8yd MacDonald of Glencoe) is en route as I write this, having just cleared customs yesterday. Hope it arrives at my house today so I can wear it in memorium of the Massacre of Gencoe whose anniversay is tomorrow. All fingers and toes crossed.

I had been close to pulling the trigger before the prices made the big jump It was particulary strange how they were charging so much more for the identical goods on their sister site. Ah well. Hope things work out for you, WCB. Keep us informed.

    Best regards,

    Jake

I again had not received any acknowledgment of the several emails I sent so I returned to the website and sent an email via info@Scottishkilts.net.

    The response was almost instantaneous!
    Very responsive
very appropriate and to the point
I think that any question regarding SK lack of communication must specify how they were contacted, u cant answer a question you do not hear.

I had specifically ordered my 8yd 13oz HoE Muted MacDonald of Glencoe back in late November in order to have it to wear last Friday the 13th, the 317th anniversary of the Massacre of Glencoe MacDonalds----appropriate kilt for the appropriate date, and let them know that I would like to have recieved it by Feb 5, a week ahead of the anticipated date I needed it. When it had not arrived by 2/5 I emailed them, and within a few hours got a response that it was being shipped by Parcelforce that very day (how convenient). Unfortunately it did not arrive until the evening of the 13th, far too late to wear, and in terribly wrinkled condition needing a serious pressing (steaming didn't do the trick). On top of that they sent it in a "green" shipping sleeve, one filled with padding made from recycled paper products, and the bag was torn through and through causing the whole kilt to be covered in heavy lint that took my wife nearly an hour to get of with a couple lint rollers. Kilt was otherwise fine--- a bit tight but I have put on winter hibernation weight since ordering it.

Never did get an excuse for why it didn't ship in time for me to have it for the 13th, despite ordering it plenty early enough to accommodate it and specifically requesting a receipt date, and even telling them why I wanted it that date.

With their prices up now, I will probably not use them again unless they have a sale on something I really want badly. I would probably use tartanweb instead, becasue of the price differentials, if I even choose to work with them at all again.

I just received email notice that my kilt has been sent and was given a tracking number which confirms that it is indeed in transit. I was charged the sale price and the currency exchange was correct.
So far I have got nothing bad to say about these guys
(apart from Jonesing, I am pleased at least).

Has anyone who ordered from scottishkilts.net ever received a confirmation of their orders? I have ordered a kilt about 3 weeks ago, and though I enquired several times for a confirmation (to avoid possible complications) I never received one. anyone???
