Yes, you beat me to it as well. Thank you for doing so. I have, of course, registered there, but not yet had time to delve into its mysteries.
Take care,
Ham.

And I just sighned up, as well as, got the tartan thread count. Very helpful to now have that count and it was easy. It seems like a very handsome tartan.
Thanks for the link and info.

To be honest I dont know Todd. By the Ram's head charge on the Arms, I assume it may have been registered at Lyon Court by the register. I will try an find out.

To answer Todd's question regarding the COA on the Register of Tartans website. Alison Diamond from the register said;
The coat of arms has been devised with the help of the Lord Lyon: its design illustrates the process of creating tartan. The wool from the sheep, woven using the shuttle, with the book representing a traditional form of register and the colour strip recalling the top of the Sindex card – a method of describing and comparing tartans devised during the 20th century.
There is a colour version as well as the black and white version which is being used for the website.
Best wishes,
Alison

Love it! Can now get the thread counts of tartans to know what they look like.

The register looks great and easy to use. I found a few more Norwegian tartans that I didn't know of. I have to update my own tartan site now (www.tartan.no).

I have a question that is not directly related but bears on this discussion:
There are now roughly three or four registries of Tartans...The STA, the SRT, the World Register and maybe one more.... I am wondering if any one of these have more "credibility" than the others?
I've always assumed that the Scottish Tartan Authority was the "official," go-to, registry. ??
This comes up because a particular tartan may be listed as "XYZ" tartan in one register and as "ZYX" tartan in another.
Seems like that's a recipe for confusion.

DWFII, this register ( http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk.) is the ONE , that's why it is so important, you will find there are reference numbers to some of the other unofficial ones listed there as well. Of course there will always be a little confusion with some names, but hopefully from now on this will become the "master " one, certainly that is the intention!
