I was informed by a Police Officer, several years ago, that technically the Sgian Dubh is classified as 'an offensive weapon' in the United Kingdom, but that it could be worn legally when one is dressed formally in Scottish National Dress - of which it forms a part. It is adviseable not to wear the Sgian on the street if one is wearing the kilt casually.
If you feel 'undressed' when not wearing your Sgian, might I suggest you invest in a Sgian Don't for daily wear. This is what I wear most of the time since I cannot see myself having a need for a real blade when away from my home - restaurants provide knives on their tables, and mealtimes are the only occasions when I need a blade!!
Take care,
Ham.
