He's not wearing a Uniform he's wearing Mess Dress which is civvies. All be it highly regulated civvies where mistakes in the wearing of can cost many nights of extra duty, it's still civvies.

Hmmmm, when my PC comes in...with my X Marks tartan vest...but its not a diagonal tartan...well, we'll see...fun fun fun to try it out.

Regarding matching argyll jackets and vests, make sure you have BOTH dry cleaned at the same time. One thing I discovered when I first began wearing suits in my 20s is that the colors can change and eventually not match if you don't have them cleaned at the same time/as often.

Great set of photos Matt, that really shows that anything can work. It is interesting to me to note that each outfit though different has balance, I'd say that is the most important part of any outfit.

Wow, before I read this thread, I would have just defaulted by saying "of course they should match"..
