Accidents aren't fun. That's for sure. Been in five. All of them not my fault.
First accident was the worst of the bunch. Had come out of a strip mall, after picking up some computer parts for a client. As I headed uphill, so I could make my way back to the client's house, a Dodge RAM pickup turned left into my car, destroying the fender, denting the door, and the rear quarter panel. Windshield also cracked. The car still ran and drove fine, just didn't look good. The 1982 Volvo 242 Turbo sedan was totalled, due to the damage. Happened on St. Andrew's Day 2002.
Two years later, when I was driving that car's replacement (another 1982 Volvo 242 Turbo - this time a black one), I was rearended. Waited for someone to finish making their turn on a two-lane road, then as I was letting off the brakes, the Dodge minivan behind me tapped my rear bumper. Driver's side brake lamp bulb stopped working, and the CD player popped out of its sleeve. Cosmetic damage was nil, compared to the rear end of the Dodge, and the front end of the earlier Dodge minivan that hit the one that bumped me.
That next spring (2005), the car was rearended again. This time, by a Honda Accord driver who saw a friend of his as we were waiting at a light, then let off the brake pedal, plowing into the rear of my car. This time around, the driver's seat rails became tweaked, the glovebox door flew open, and all my CD's came flying out. Didn't see any damage at the time. But, three days later, as I was driving west on I-90 toward Seattle, I began hearing this creaking sound. When I got home, there was a crease in the right rear quarter panel.
On Labor Day 2005, I was driving in Seattle on Hwy 99 (also known as Aurora Ave North), and had changed lanes, so I was in the curb lane. About a half mile past where I changed lanes, a Toyota Tercel driver pulled out, and proceeded to head southbound in the lane I was in. Slammed my brakes on, hit the horn, then bumped into the back of his Tercel. Stalled the engine. We pulled off 99, and checked our cars, seeing no damage.
The next spring, I was in a grocery store parking lot, waiting for someone to park their nearly new BMW properly. Well, needless to say, they backed up too closely, and created a nice dent in their right rear door with the corner of my car's front bumper.
At that point, I realized the car was cursed, and decided to part it out a couple months later.
