Now that's funny.
My Aussie is quite curious as well. The good thing about Aussies--at least all of the ones I know--is that they don't lick! They just sniff, even when right in your face.
That reminds me of the little country boy who was late to school, and when querried by his teacher, told a tale of fox sounds in the hen house the prevous night. When his Paw--"who sleeps raw"--went to investigate with his shot gun and Ole Blue the hound dog, it happened that Ole Blue nudged Paw with his cold nose. The boy had been plucking chickens all morning.
Just be glad you weren't similarly armed.

Dogs and Small Children - the biggest threats to the kilt wearer's existence. Cuz both of them will run through your legs like nobody's business.

I'll bet that was a surprise that you don't wish to have repeated in the near future. I've never had my two border collies do that to me yet, but they are awfully lovie whenever I come home, so perhapse it is just a matter of time.

Dunno about dogs...
... but my cats occasionally like investigationing under an unbifurcated garment, especially if I'm seated. And unlike my mother's elderly pair, my own two feline friends will also walk between legs.

Dang. It's stories like this that make me miss Maggie, my lab of 13 years who just died in her sleep two days before Christmas.
Yeah, I know, wet blanket.
But, TheScot, the story about the boy pluckinmg chickens got a big laugh out of me. Way funny.
