Welcome to Xmarks from Amelia County Virginia. As for the Marine tartan being the only one you have the right to wear, you can wear nearly any tartan. The Marine Corp tartan is the one which you earned the right to wear. Thanks for your service.

A little about myself, I am a father of two and a grandpa or "cheii" to three. My kids and grandkids are enrolled Navajos living on the reservation.
I am a veteran of the Marine Corps having served in Beirut, in 1983. I am of mixed heritage Mohawk, Scottish (Claghorn), and Irish.
I have been very active in the Native American community, especially in veteran events, but as I grow older I am drawn to my Celtic roots. I have learned more about my roots in my last few years than before. My mother kept a lot from us, because of the way she grew up in England. To keep it short and sweet, let's just say being an Irish Catholic in England during the 40's and 50's was not easy. When we came to the States, when I was two, she felt teaching us Gaelic was unnecessary, basically protecting us from what she experienced.
I have come to appreciate my ancestory and I am wanting to embrace it more. I have learned about my Scottish side and I can trace the Claghorns back to Corstophine and the loss of their barony. My Irish side is what I am learning about now.
What brings me here.... I have always wanted a kilt and I am not getting any younger...LOL I am 47. I brought a Sportkilt (still waiting on it), in All Ireland Green. I kept looking online and stumbled in here. I read alot of the forums and felt I made a mistake with the Sportkilt, I don't know. I ordered a Stillwater kilt and with all the hype about SWK I bet it comes before the SportKilt.
I already have my wish list working.. a Freedom Cargo kilt, and a Tank in the Marine Corps tartan, with belt buckle, kilt pin, and sporran reflecting the Marines... I guess you can say it's one tartan I have the right to wear.
I am glad I found this site and I am impressed with the knowledge many freely share.. I hope to learn a lot from this site and make many good friends
    Thank you and be good.
