I think it's safe to press the issue!
Cheers,
Since my last post was deleted, I wish only to express that the current chief executive may not share the previous enthusiasm for celtic day. Public empoyees, especially federal employees, should exercise caution and discretion regarding the kilt and the workplace.
If this post is also deleted, then I may need to reassess this use of my time.

I'm a federal employee (DOD) and have heard nothing from our leadership/management to either discourage nor encourage employee participation in Tartan Day. It hasn't quite received the public attention that other ethnic or minority celebration days/months so I suspect this is being left up to the individual and his immediate supervisor.

Seeing as how the current chief executive is as much Irish as anything else, why wouldn't he?

Ah, but what about the new administration, I doubt that my Commander and Chief will allow me to be kilted at work Monday, let alone the 1st Infantry Division Command Sergeant Major.

I got fired last week, and then declined to start working there again a few days later. I can wear what I want, but I can't afford any more of what I want.
(And I am bummed, I kinda hoped to have a American Heritage from Rocky by the Fourth of July. But I have somewhat more important things to focus on right now.

Being on active duty, I am out of luck. However, on the 4th a group of us are getting together at Keagans Pub in Newport News, to celebrate the event.

Fortunately my employer doesn't bat an eye at my kilts. So I'll be wearing one for sure. In fact, they make fun of me when I wear pants.

On April 4, our local Scottish Society is presenting a Children's Scottish Hour at the Camp Hill, PA library. As an educator, I was put in charge, so we hope to have 20 to 30 young people, grades 1 to 5 with parents present. I'll do a slide show of Scottish "stuff" (castles, landscapes, bagpipers, kilts, etc.), just to whet the appetite. Then, some children's stories (I'll read Wee Gillis by Munro Leaf and tell the story of Robert the Bruce and the spider), a demo of bagpiping by the Society's chief piper, some simple flute music by me, a clothing demo as ! put a young lad in a kilt and a young lady in an arisaid, and then some crafts (spider web with spider, stamping activity with map of Scotland, a tartan ribbon pin, etc.). Each parent will receive a Tartan Day pin. I'm hoping for a great turn out. Oh, and I'll be in kilt....for sure!! Happy Tartan Day.....soon to come!
