My wife knit a pair of hose with yarn 40% wool, 40% silk and 20% bamboo. They are great. You can see them (one of them anyway) in this thread, post #5 >> http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/o...x.html?t=47646

Matt, those are excellent. My wife is starting a new pair and is going to use a cable stitch for the top. I'll show her your picture.

Matt, you are one lucky guy having Joanie around to knit this stuff for you. When I was looking at your gallery on facebook today I noticed all of the hose that she has knit for you! I am eagerly awaiting the finished product and the kilted outfit that you will pair them with.

    Bro. Newsome,
Be careful where you wear those hose. That pattern is usually referred to as "Saxon Braid".

There is a video on my blog with a rave review from our youngest son (holding the hose in the above screen cap).

Wow, I just love knitting cables and those hose looks just great Is your wife a member on ravelry???
If not please tell her about it and make her join this amazing groups site. There are also free patterns for socks and great groups to liking or you can make your own group if it's not. It's just HUGE and I still love it over there after a few years

My husband and son have handknitted socks as well and my son is almost 10 years and loves his socks. If I ask him what socks he wants to wear it's mostly the hand knitted one and sometimes I must say during summer that he shouldn't wear them because they're too hot and his answer is, mom if it's too hot I can always take them off but now I want to wear them He's sweet.

Yup, she's on Ravelry more often than I'm on X Marks. Her screen name is JMN. I believe there is a kilt hose group on that forum that she's involved in....
