Hello from Bayern!
Welcome from the Oberpfalz region of Freistat Bayern (near Weiden).
Since you say you are learning to play the bagpipes, have you seen this website?
http://www.bagev.de
It is for the Bagpipe Association of Germany and it has a lot of information about events coming up. Next one is at Peine, near Hannover, on the weekend of 2 and 3 May.
Also, in September, there is a large Highland Games near Leipzig at Machern.
I will be attending both.
Tom,

Hello from Germany
Hello all!
Thanks again for your kind welcom´
It was up to me to Choose an Character. My Dad told me always that ,since he was a War Prisoner from WW II, he had known an Guard from Corpus Christi, Texas. This Guard had scottish/ irish roots. During his (my Dads) Prisonership they became something like Friends. My Dad were in the Camp at Weiden in Germany. After his release in 1946 the both were still in contact.
Dad told me so much from Scotland and his history, that i heard it since i was 5 years old.
In my Reenactment Unit i am 1st Lt.with the Name Allan MacGregor. I am in the Company A, Edgefield Hussars, Hampton´s Legion from South Carolina. When i not wearing Uniform in the Reenactment ,i am Reverend Allan MacGregor.
My Comrades told me sometimes when i make a speech it is like i deliver an sermon. So they told me that i am the Company Preacher!
The more i dive in scottish Culture , the more i fall into fascination.
In the Reenactment i wear an grey Uniform, as the Preacher i wear an black suit with an Colt M 1861 Army.Im working on an Adoption to
victorian dresscodes and scottish Attire.
My Family told me that the " scottish Behavior" in Reanactment is also an part of my dayly Life. Also an short step to live kilted.
