You did say "elegant..." The tartan was designed by Matt Newsome, the rest of the outfit (including the erstwhile model) may not be your definition of elegant but the tartan is simply top-notch---not too much black, not too busy, and just a touch of colour.

I always think tartans with some black and white in them make a good 'dressy' tartan, the American Heritage is my current favorite;
Order of the Dandelion, The Houston Area Kilt Society, Bald Rabble in Kilts, Kilted Texas Rabble Rousers, The Flatcap Confederation, Kilted Playtron Group.

Any tartan a man feels deeply connected to helps him stand just a bit taller, stride just a bit more confidently, and pay more attention to his kit - and that makes him look like a million bucks.

Okay, if you really want elegant and Douglas try the Ancient Red Douglas----high on my wish list.

Without a doubt, any well healed tartan formed into a kilt will be a winner.

Generally, the "Dress" tartans tend to look best when you want to dress-up.
Here for instance is Dress MacKenzie Modern with waistcoat, seal skin sporran and all the other "dress" accouterments.
In stocking feet waiting for her to get ready.
And here with the dancing pumps and all, glass of scotch still in my hand, and still waiting for her, so we can go out on the town.
