I think any snipeware, if there is such a thing, would be prone to the same weakness as live sniping, ie there is always the risk that your bid gets delayed in these final few seconds between your computer and e-bay and you get a message back to say the item is no longer available. Then when you check you find it sold for less than your bid. I used to snipe manually but I have learned the hard way that if I really want something far better to place my maximum bid well in advance, rather than see the item go to someone else for less than I would have paid, because my bid got delayed on the internet. That bid remains a secret unless/until it is topped so I can't really see any advantage in sniping. My advice would be to place your maximum bid before you go out, then check when you come back home to see if you won.

While it is not free, it is very cheap to use Bidnip.com . I've had to use it for some parts for my motorcycle. After losing to the same person 8 different times, I used it to get two parts I desperately needed.

I learned a long time ago that putting your max bid in early is a good way to pay more than your max. The best method I've found is to calculate what it would cost you to get the item retail and then bid that amount in the last minute of the auction. A minute is a long time when you're waiting for the auction to end, but chances are another bidder isn't going to make huge jumps in their max bid. That said, none of you had better use this technique on any BMW R75/5 parts!

Send a private message to BEEDEE.
He sniped a nice kilt pin from me a while ago. - A kilt pin that has hopefully rusted away and fallen off his kilt since....(just kidding..I wasn't too happy about it at the time but have since gotten over it)
I forget what service he used but there was a free "first time" trial.
I echo what others have said ...put the top $$ you want to spend on it. If you still lose it - it wasn't meant to be. Plus, you haven't overpaid after gettign caught up in the bidding!!

Actually, he doesn't, it's in the forum rules that there is no right to free speech here ith:
Anyway, comment as he may, it doesn't mean I cannot likewise say what I please. My request to address the topic at hand wasn't 'mean'. Let's be honest, he did in fact question my honor and integrity, so if anyone needs admonished to be nice, it's not I.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I just use eBay for iPhone. That way I have more manual control over the "sniping" process.

I use Ebay Countdown and also eBay for the G1 phone. I prefer Countdown if I'm at a computer. I have to time myself more carefully if I use the G1 phone since there's a bit of a delay.
