Any composers on the forum who would like to take a shot at setting this to music? I think we have the makings of an anthem here!
Well done!!!

Panache, his past literary efforts long since forgotten wanders aimlessly among his dusty library. The crumbling pages of his stories and verse turning to dust before his very eyes. The faded laurel wreath on his writing desk disintigrates into gray ash, and his past glories iare blown away by a soft breeze.
He weeps bitter tears at fleeting fame and forgotten efforts.

Barry,
Now that I have had my moment of self pity...
Very well done Sir!

The tastes of the audiences are fickle, we pontificators of verbose wordage must keep the big picture in mind, when is the next gin & tonic coming?

Very good Barry!
Now there is a rival in Dorset to Thomas Hardy!

Now Jamie is a wordsmith; his mother’s pride and joy
With sacks of rhyming couplets all ready to deploy
He is the Poet Laureate, he’s nothing here to fear
From any strolling player that should be passing here.
He gives us poems and sonnets, though none of them for cash
While in his kilt resplendent and done with great panache
