I wholeheartedly agree with the rabble's posts, but especially Spartan, and ESPECIALLY Riverkilt - sometimes you gotta "zing" 'em to let 'em know you're there!
Keep on kilting, man!!!

I usually just ignore folks like that and leave them standing there with their faces hanging out, but if I choose to respond, I say, "Before I answer, please tell me how that is any of your business?"

Now this will give them something to think about! I like it.

I wear the kilt for me. No one else. I just figure that if someone wants to make a comment, at least they are thinking of me and leaving someone else alone. I have a few co workers ( and I use the term Workers loosely) that ride me all the time about the kilt and my heritage. In the whole scheme of things, It just doesn't amount to a hill of beans. If people want to waste their time making stupid comments, just thank them for thinking of you. That will shut their pie hole.

Wow, it sounds like she was speaking to you as she would to a child, too! If it happens again, try this one: "Are you pretending to be an ignoramus, or were you born that way?"

Unfortunately, there are people in this world who will engage their mouth before making sure their brain is in gear.

Such comments are often made by those who have the illusion that kilts are every day wear in Scotland.

As a native Scot, I would say, No, you are certainly not pretending to be a Scot, the kilt is a worldwide garment which all men are entitled to wear.
