I recently purchased Diane's pattern to make myself a Balmoral (like the one Puffer sp gracefully modeled a few threads ago), and have settled on red. Not maroon, burgundy, or mauve, but red. Firetruck red. Candy apple red. Red.
The question is, is there now or has there been a military unit which wore a red Balmoral/beret/tam as part of their uniform? I don't want people thinking that I'm claiming to be a part of something I'm not, nor do I want to appear that I'm dishonoring a military unit.
I appreciate your advice, and will post pics of it when I get it made.
