    Great story Ron! I used to four wheel drive in those hills many years ago. You almost could not get over any mountain pass for all of the mine shafts.

    Beautiful pix, Ron. The reiver(wife) has kin who ranch in Cortez/Dolores and we used to spend a lot of time in Ouray. And I've collected mineral specimens out of the tailings piles at the Idorado.

    Makes me want to go back. Thanks for posting.

    Nice pics... Have only visited Colorado twice. Once @ Stapleton airport in 1987, and then on a roadtrip through central CO and western CO in 1993. Hope to get back soon, maybe to move there.

    I come from a long line of miners from both sides of my family. Brave Yorkshiremen and Northumbrians both. My Father broke the mould... thank God! I don't think I'd be able to cut it.
