I want to see it pleated before I pass judgment. Maybe to the blue stripe between the narrow black stripes, right under the word "Media" on the tool bar. The white would be hidden in the pleats, and flash as the wearer walked.

I to am a former Buckeye, born and bred, will have to see it in a kilt for the final decision on the Ohio Tartan, but I agree, it should be the Ohio State Buckeye Colors.

Crimson? I was thinking scarlet myself. I noted the distinct lack of anything Buckeye in it... I was a little disapointed by that. There is orange and blue in the Colorado... I know my dad will want one, though- he bleeds scarlet and grey- as do three generations of my family.

Yes, there was something "Buckeye" in it...the Ohio state flag, and the colours of the US Flag, under which many Buckeyes have fought and died and in many case, bled scarlet.

What? Not gray and safety barrel orange?
Actually I've seen this tartan before. I may be writing my state congresscritters to beg them to turn down the bill or to add an amendment that bans ugly tartans from being adopted as state symbols.
Thanks for the heads up.

Rex.

I guess I'll be the only one to defend the Ohio tartan.
The tartan is based on the colours of the Ohio state flag, which may have been based on a Cavalry guidon:

Given the flag's unqiue place in vexillology, as well as its tribute to the thousands of Ohioans that have served their country, I have no problems with the tartan.

Todd

That's great - it's good that you found something to appreciate in it. Something can be imbued with meaning, but that doesn't necessarily make it attractive. The same colors might have been arrayed in a different pattern and could have turned out to be quite a handsome tartan.
But as you say, horses for courses, or something like that.

Rex.

Take heart, you Ohioans who don't like your State tartan. I'm a loyal, loving citizen of the State of Texas, but the Texas Bluebonnet tartan, I think, is one of the ugliest.

I agree. Love my state of Texas, but can't stand the Bluebonnet tartan. Saw it recently worn as a kilt, and I ran the other way. The Ohio tartan is a bit bright, but would probably make a good kilt. Sure would get attention.
