Are those available with black leather instead of brown? If so, that might be right up my alley, even if they cost more than I was wanting to spend.

Edit: Nevermind, I just realized McFarkus's beaver fur sporran has black leather.

The Skunk is Black Leather, check out the link in my post. You can also customize your own sporran.

I just realized that you and McFarkus have ones with black leather. I apologize. My monitor at home is less than stellar when it comes to color differentiation!

I had my dream sporran made a year or so ago. It is made of long white goat hair, with three tassels, and a sterling silver cantle bearing my shield. the bells on the tassels are silver, as well. I wanted a goat hair sporran that will become an heirloom, and that is what I got. It wasn't cheap, but I will treasure it always. It certainly is very traditional, but I can understand that it isn't for everyone.

IMHO, there's a simplicity about this sporran that lets the real beauty of the materials shine. Truly one of the best I've seen.

I have a Ferguson Brit sporran in black mink and I have a full mask raccoon sporran.

But to me, the sporran that looks best with black and white tie is going to be a fur/hide sporran with a silver/chrome cantle

This is mine in black and white calf skin

    Cheers

Jamie-- that is really a nice looking sporran. I especially like the "weight" of the cantle. As to my "ultimate" dress sporran? I'd kill (quite literally) to have one like that worn by the late Jock Hay of Delgattie. It was made from the hide of a leopard that Jock shot in Africa while it was mauling one of his bearers. Absolutely the stuff of legends, Jock was, and the kind of man who deserved that kind of sporran. If I ever get the chance to bag a leopard you can bet your bottom dollar it'll end up as sporran for me and a 'skin for the drummer in our local pipe band.
