I think evaluating any kind of real fur via net pictures is iffy at best. I've a fair bit of experience with animal parts, both fresh and preserved by various means. Sometimes synthetic (or better a lesser valued fur) can be made to look quite convincing and passed off as something else. Though it does indeed appear remarkably similar to seal fur.

Looks like a crap shoot to me if that is your interest in it. Could be, could not be. Which, is the question ? (apologies to the Bard)

I usually carry more keys than a Parkhurst gaoler so it's of no use to me. Pretty from the outside though.

I could see something like that being used in a rental situation. Looking at the picture, I think the horizontal slit in the back might be a pocket.

I have one almost identical, except for the badge. All the ones I have seen are old (15-20 years +) so no faux fur - real fur was cheaper then. I am told mine was intended for a youth rather than a man. Only adults would have a 'need' for a sporran, whereas all males required a sporran for the look. And it stopped boys putting dead frogs in their sporrans.

    Regards

    Chas

That is definitely a child's sporran, folks. The fact that there are only two tassels suggests this, and a look at the deminsions confirms.

I've seen child sporrans made with no pocket plenty of times, especially the formal variety.

My younger son always has stuff in his pockets, and it could be anything. I had not thought of that, thank you.

I bought a pouchless sporran on EBay a couple of years ago by mistake. It's very nice looking, if useless. It reminds me of a hairy ping pong paddle.
