How could you forget tatters and onions and carrots?

Then I am gonna be a bad, bad man. Church picnic this weekend, looks like 9 racks of ribs, 2 pork butts, 2 beef briskets, 12 chickens and a wee salmon, all going into the smoker!

Oh and hamburgers for the kiddos. Yes I will have some veggie burgers as well. But I'm gonna be mr. Heatattack!ith:

If it is not meat, it does not get on my grill. Vegs are handled by others and will NOT get near my grill.

When I grill, all the below are usually available.

    Domestics - Beef, Pork, Chicken
Exotics - Venison, Dove, Quail, Javelina, Wild Hog, Rattlesnake, Possum, and other items of the wild.
    Eggs - Dove & Quail

Ya, sometimes I'll throw a chicken in there and cook it until the meat falls off the bones. After I pick out all the bones, I sort out the parts I like and feed the rest to the kitties.

Or even they might have a sack of chicken legs or breasts; just dump it all in the pot.

But I like to save the broth, and cook rice with it, instead of just plain water.

    It's all good.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Slow cooking is a gift from Heaven!

I think I might have to get something going for tomorrow now. Pork loin + can of onion soup + bottle of stout + ~7 hours = AMAZING

And as far as this carnivore is concerned, veggies aren't food. Veggies are food for food.

I, too, am also a fan of slow-cooked, heavily-marbled red meat. Good on ya, Ted.

I have to confess, however, I thought Ted was starting his stand-up set: "Two roasts and a crock pot walk into a bar.."
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

My wife isn't much of a meat eater...I don't think I've had roast since I was living at home. Sounds...good.

Incidentally, I picked up some highland ground beef at a local farmer's mkt.
Not bad- maybe next time I'll get a roast.
