hmmm
I think I see part of your knee, that camera angle is the culprit. Maybe another photo?
And never take kilt legnth advice from McMurdo, youll be showing off some thigh in no time!

Looks just fine to me. Just because tradition says wear it an inch or so higher, there is no need to wear a kilt too high or too short for your own comfort zone.

I have no idea what this "natural waist" people mention is. Nor so I know what a "hip" is, in the kilt-wearer's context.
The shot was taken after I had been out and about, so that is where it sits. At the side, the belt surrounds my lower ribs.
If I am going to pull the kilt up, but leave the belt at the same level, then I am not going to use the belt loops? Also, it is pretty tight, I am not sure that I could make it sit higher without getting uncomfortable.
Sadly, my wife, the photographer cannot stoop to get a lower angle picture. The camera was at my chin level, about 12 feet away. I could stand on some stairs, I guess.
The kilt is already hemmed. It is from the second wool run, with the wonky selvedge. How hard is it to hem an 8-yard kilt another inch or two?
Me, I would like it shorter.

I'll respond to the belt loops...
The belt loops are actually for the sporran not the belt. You do not need loops on a kilt at all. The sporran will not slip down and just wrap the belt around you. It may help lifting the kilt a bit but really it doesn't matter, you're looking mighty fine as is.

I think that the camera angle may not help, but the kilt looks as though it could go up a tad. Mid knee, I think, is the lowest that you really ought to go to and a tad higher than that would be even better. Raise the whole kilt, put on a pullover to cover the top of the kilt(so it does not draw your eyes away from the bottom) and see how it looks.

If you can't see most of the kneecap, I think it's too long.

Drop may be considered too long by some. I think it's fine for daywear (and formal wear) as it looks just more....well....better! in my opinion if its a little over the knee.
I mean...we don't follow rules for pants either do we ? -.-'

Pull it up Man, Pull it up! You'll probably find it more comfortable a little higher, it looks like your hips are slightly larger than your waist. Pulling it up should give you a little more room where you need it. It's still a great looking kilt!
