I know what you mean. Last Saturday I was at a party, and people were surprised to see me in pants. When asked, I simply replied, "Well I took a cold shower this morning, so I was able to fit into my pants."

I went kilted Sunday, but now I'm back in pants... not that comfortable

As Rathdown has mentioned, well-fitting trousers should be comfortable enough. And most of mine are - I would prefer a suit over "jeans day" at work any day. That being said, though, I have experienced the pang of wishing for a kilt when instead I was in Dockers or jeans. Moving a certain way may cause a tug or sag or pinch that reminds me of what wouldn't happen had I been in a kilt instead.

There was a different sort of discomfort that I used to experience shortly after learning how much I enjoyed wearing kilts. It was a kind of anxiety over situations when wearing a kilt was not an option. That feeling has gone away now, for the most part.

    Regards,
    Rex.

I don't find my cargo pants uncomfortable. OTOH, my then wife commented on the similarity of the sillouette of my cargo shorts and my sportkilt.

Although I wear Kilts almost daily, I do occasionally wear Trousers ( modern & period ( incl. DoD Trews ) or cargo shorts, Except for Jeans, I experience no discomfort, BUT, I find them NO WAY NEAR as comfortable as as my KILTS.

Surfer clothes are the best. If you want to experience comfort in trousers, try Quicksilver.

It seems people are disappointed to see me in shorts or pants now that I have appeared kilted in public. It can be nice not worrying about sweeping the pleats at times, but not worth the trade off of necessary 'adjustments' due to the nature of a bifurcated garment.

    Yes!

Basically, I didn't wear pants for five days straight. Of course when I got back, I had to wear slacks and jeans for work and they seemed really uncomfortable. Really, really uncomfortable, borderline irritating.

I thought the discomfort would go away over time and those same work clothes I've been wearing for the past 7 years would be comfortable again like they used to be. However, it's been a little over two weeks and pants are still just as uncomfortable as the day I got back.

Has anyone else been in this situation?

At first, it started with 'going regimental' in bifurcated clothing, and then even that became uncomfortable (presumably because undergarments were devised to mitigate the discomfort of bifurcated garments) so, that drove me (with very little effort) toward becoming a "kiltie".
