On a local level I really like local roasters The Woods or Moka Joe's, where I can enjoy a good strong brew & get a tour of their roasting facilities, or join them for a taste testing session!

I've only recently gone back to drinking coffee occasionally, on my days off. My preference till last week was Kona from WaWa (a SE PA, S Jersey chain), but they've discontinued it. Now I go with the dark roast, or whatever catches my fancy. I take home a 24 ounce cup, put it in a big stoneware mug and add about 6 ounces of Carolan's (why I only drink it on my day off). Makes for a nice easy start to the morning.

Community Medium Roast - that's the ticket!

I haven't tried it yet, but I understand that Jim Walters, owner of Caledonian Kitchen is working with locals to revive an old local coffee plant in Nachitoches, LA. I believe the old brand was simply called something like "Nachitoches Coffee." The new brand will have some sort of pirate name. (He told me, but I forgot.) Just trivia for the curious with a little Scots connection.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Mocha Java or Heifer Hope Blend. Totally fair trade, ground at home daily in grandmother's old grinder, and single mug drip

Cafe du Monde is good, off the shelf, strong but balanced with a good bit of chicory.

A former gf of mine used to get me coffee from somwhere around lake Ponchartrain, sorry about the spelling I have no idea how it is spelt. The coffee used to come in a silver bag, that was good, good high test stuff. Really strong but not bitter. some great coffee out of LA

Kenya AA or Ethiopian Yirgacheffee. Grind fresh with a burr grinder and brew in a French Press.

And the worlds worst? In second to last place, Starbucks, and in last place - American Airlines.

The house coffee is Community Coffee, Louisiana Blend (dark). Darn near impossible to get in north Texas.

    Thumbs up Mmmm...Coffee

I think the only place I frequent that always has a consistantly good cup of coffee is Waffle House. http://www.wafflehouse.com/coffeestory.asp

At home I brew the same stuff I grew up on, Folgers Classic Roast.

Starbucks' popularity can't be denied, but their swill always reminds me of some coffee I had in Central America once, it was ladled out of a big cook pot with about a quarter inch of burned coffee residue in the bottom.
