Welcome from Eastern Washington State. Great to have you here. Every time I make a kilt I learn something new. Barb's book is the best. I never cease to be amazed at how satisfying making a great garment like a kilt can be.

I learn a lot from what other people are missing and what they want from a kilt. That seems to be what's developing my creations. If they are having trouble or don't know exactly what they want. I end up exchanging a lot of emails before I even get to the sewing machine when I am working on someone else's kilt.

I never have owned a sewing machine before or sewn anything before. I just decided that I would make my own kilts because I'm the sole provider for my little clan of 4 and couldn't in all good conscience pay $350 for a garment. So, I decided to make them
See? You are the best example ever of what I always tell people who say that they could never sew: 'Sewing isn't hard. Doing is.'

    Welcome.

ps. AlanH, this is also a compliment to your instructions. Way to go!

Thank you. I hope to learn to make traditional kilts next and more.

Thank you for the words of encouragement.
