    Off topic a bit

By seeing the closet photos, and only in my 5th month of being kilted, I'm curious about the hangers shown in the photos. I can see they are wooden except for Matt's. Also I recall reading about using two pants hangers to support the full width of the kilt then "bending" the kilt between the hangers. It appears that is how they are hanging in the photos. Is that correct?

Can Matt provide advantages to the hangers he uses and his source?

I got mine at Wal*Mart and the only reason I got the plastic over the wood was cost. The ones I have are not expensive at all, and work just great.

Keep in mind that most of my kilts are 4 yard box pleated kilts, making them much lighter than the 8 yarders. So a single hanger works just fine for them.

That being said, however, on the couple of 8 yard kilts I have -- heavy weight, mind you -- I still can use just a single hanger like you see. So long as the hanger is in good shape and can really clamp down, I've always found that one hanger can do the job. Just my personal experience. I know a lot of folks prefer to use two, and that's just fine, especially if you aren't that certain of the hanger.

AlphaKilts sells a very good and inexpensive hanger. Four clips as opposed to the two one would see on normal pants hangers. That's where I got mine.

I reckon that Hamish would need a fish-eye lens on his camera to get all of his kilt kollection into one photo. I can't wait to see it. Come on Ham!

Patience is a great virtue, Rob!

I am currently having the vaults extended, not necessarily to make way for more kilts though (!), and The Kollection is temporarily accommodated in secure premises elsewhere. Sadly photography there is impractible but, give me a few days and I may be able to arrange something.

    Take care,
    Ham.

Here is what mine looks like

Underneath the kilts are two plastic storage containers that hold my kilt hose, sporrans and other accessories. I am however in desperate need of another storage container. This is not the entire closet the jackets are behind the kilts.
