The tartan is awesome, and like NightHawk, I have a unique Albannach kilt... I am the only one outside the band to have that first run of the tartan in a great kilt.

Which friend would that be? Yes, you need to get one of these- they're great. I need to get a PV great kilt made from this tartan, too. I wear my wee kilt for my living history group because the colors look so natural. It could easily have come out of the 16 or 1700's, which is one of the things I like best about it really.

I assume when they play in Piqua in about 2 weeks I'll see the tartan first hand then.

As mentioned, you cannot get it anywhere in wool anymore. And the PV is exclusive to USAK

The tartan is owned by Jamesie of Albannach and USA Kilts is the exclusive distributor. We only did 1 run in Wool (13 oz from Lochcarron) and don't have any plans to do another run in the forseeable future. We DO have the material in PV and thats the ONLY tartan we sell as 'yardage only' in PV. Cost is $35 / yard (it's a bit pricey b/c most of the colors were special dye pieces).

The 13 oz. Wool is what you will see on the band in Piqua. The tartan goes well with their music IMHO. The outfit I have posted is the one I will be wearing in 25 days when I meet the Band at the New Hampshire Highland Games..... I should be the envy of many of my fellow "Misfits".

In that case I should hold off and have the master make the kilt.

Great, now I'm jonesing for a tartan that I saw on the board just a day ago, this place is evil, evil I say!

Well maybe not evil, just a tad bad... naughty maybe?

Oh damn, now I got to check out Rocky's site and slobber some more!

Oh my, Oh my I think I might have to peg proceeds from a wedding or two to a new kilt! That is a very reasonable price.

You just made my night. I'm fresh out of class/shower. It was a kata night. My senseis are back from Sierra Camp in California, where our dojo founder gave several seminars on his weird karate style, and man, are my legs sore... I love and hate when they come back from that camp, because they always come back with new ways to make us twist and contort our bodies. It kills you for about 3 weeks... and then you start to realize just how much stronger they are making you, and how fast they're doing it. I was practicing a sword kata the other day, watching myself in a mirror to make sure I was doing the forms correctly, and I noticed a very distinctive bulge in my right arm (I was working one-handed techniques) and was a little alarmed- until I realized it was muscle! Like I said... I love the things my instructors come back with from camp.

I know what you mean. I'm dying for an Isle of Skye and an Albannach great kilt. Those, along with a MacLeod hunting (my clan tartan) are my next three kilt purchases. I think the IoS will be a casual, the MacLeod an 8 yard premiere, and the Albannach... well, a great kilt!
