    I find him remarkable for many reasons, but to me the most remarkable thing about him was his willingness to engage with his critics, and ultimately to point out ways in which his original vision may have been misused or at best misunderstood. Too often we wed ourselves to our ideas -- even to ideas less worthy of international acclaim -- and refuse to alter our thinking.

    I hope as I grow older that I will not suffer from "hardening of the categories."

    I kid. being as he went to the University of Minneosota, we've had a lot of stories about him since he died.

    In the agricultural community I live in (Upper Midwest) he is well document and mandatory reading for university students studying ag. He is also credited for helping bring a greater understanding of famine in remote areas of the US.

    Great thing you did bringing him up. Of course, as far as I know he never yelled, "Wolverines!!!"
