Well you and yours look great, it's nice to see that you dressed properly. I've been to a few Formal events where many of the guests did not get the memo, couldn't be bothered, or were unable to dress correctly. I think the only thing to be done in these situations is to lead by example and show them how you should dress for such an occasion.

Nice photos even if the numbers were low. You and your son both look quite dasing.
I must say that I enjoy the dressier occassions once in a while because I like to dress up--once in a while. After all, it's the only time we get to dress better than the ladies.

I like it that you tie your own bow tie for formal. I do, too (unless I'm piping), and I've gotten it down to about 3 minutes versus 20 the first time I tied it.
