It is nice to see the youngsters of Edinburgh not conforming with their kilt attire, which is just what they should be doing! They will grow into upright and well dressed kilt wearers in the course of time.

In all seriousness, short socks with the kilt, do look awful!

Agreed with Jock, as well. The kilt has such a dignity in its own right... seems to heighten the incongruity when accessories detract from it.
