    Rather than the anti-climax joke, I think I prefer the bizarre:

    In the late sixties, one of my sisters moved to Germany along with her Army husband. They chose to live off-base and rented a small apartment from a local. Lorie had college-level German. She also had a T-shirt that said "Bull Shirt," and one day her landlord asked her what it signified. She ended up explaining it as "American humor," which evidently satisfied him!
