I've worn a kilt in many places in England, and in my experience London is about the only place that no-one seemed to notice at all what I have been wearing (as has already been said). Go for it, and enjoy London!
Good Luck.

Nobody will give you a second glance in London, I have worn tartan kilts and a solid colour Freedom kilt in London, no problem.

Thanks all of you for your input, which has been most encouraging. I shall certainly bring one or two kilts to London.

You'll be fine! London is very multicultural. You'll probably get a lot of other tourists wanting a picture with you simply because you're kilted!
I have never been kilted in London before but it seems to be the best place in England to wear one - as it is so diverse.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

That and well, frankly it must be said, it's not as if the english (and London) aren't ...."acquainted" with the scots and their dress ;) It definitely would not throw them for a loop or anything I bet

Anything goes in London, GG. I have worn tartan, but mainly for dancing events. Take your Utilikilts. I wear them in London and will do so tomorrow.
Some years ago, with my two little sons kilted in London, a small boy was fascinated by our outfits and said "Please can you give me a uniform like that?"

I have been to London a few dozen times over the past 6/7 years and have always worn my Cilt. I have never experienced a problem there (or anywhere else in the UK come to that). You will be just fine.

Thanks again. I look forward to the trip. By the way, are there any shops in London selling kilts and accessories? I might be in a need for a new day wear sporran.
I have heard that The Scotch House in Knightsbridge doesn't exist anylonger. Googling reveals a Highland Store, 66 Great Russell Street?

I was down in London this weekend, Unfortunately I did not see anyone kilted other than the piper on Westmininster Bridge who was attracted a lot of attention
