In Lethearen's defense, the Sea Devil was really full, and there were many fellows in kilts! But see, he made new friends! I should have mentioned we try to sit in the middle isle near the stage, and I'd be sporting the XMarks Dandelion plant badge in my bonnet. Next time just holler "Hey Zardoz!" and watch for movement as I dive under a table or behind something!
I was not "surrounded by women"! Due to some scheduling conflicts, I only had 3 of the girltorage on hand! I should have at least 4 this weekend, all faries!
I always get frustrated trying to meet up with people at TRF, it's a big place with a lot going on, and there are 20 to 30 thousand people wandering around at any time. I got distracted myself Saturday and almost missed my clan meetup by wandering down the wrong lane!
Like I said, We'll be out again on 10/17, same schedule, look for the dandelions!

I was out both Saturday and Sunday, but just caught the thread now... Not that I'm hard to find. Out of all the kilts I saw all weekend (including some truly horrendous approximations), I'm still the only one going around in MacLeod of Lewis...

Incedentally, you wouldn't happen to be the same Jackdaw of "Bagpipes at Midnight" fame, would you?

By gum, no! I had not heard of this Celtic Rock group until you mentioned it. I looked this up on ther Internet to see if somebody "UTubed" me when I played bagpipes at New Years! It's all just a strange coincidence. Thanks for asking.

Yeah... a few sporrans worn around back, a couple of women's kilted skirts, lots of mid-shin length kilts... I was escorting my uncle around, and it made perfect examples of what not to do when he finally breaks down and buys a kilt!

I was surprised to see so many variations of kilts walking around. Some were atrocious, like the black and red striped great kilt sort of thing, but some were decent. I was looking through the various shops selling kilts, and I guess I'm just ruined now. Even $125 for a Pride of Scotland tartan in proper material didn't impress me enough to buy it. Just wasn't impressed with the construction of it, and didn't feel like reworking it. I'm already building 3 from scratch, I don't need any more projects! :-D

For a great kilt, don't bother with official tartan - go for any plaid textile of the right thickness/thinness and dimensions.

Oh, no worries there; I'll have my black and orange plaid great kilt finished in time for Holloween weekend. ;-) I just saw one guy that was wearing a length of fabric in a great kilt style, but it wasn't even plaid, just black and red stripes!

Then I actually saw you out there. I got to educate my uncle on your "Loud" MacLeod tartan

You can always tell when I'm in the area, since Pamela at House of Dra seems to quite nearly announce it!
