You might try PMing Turpin. I know he has bought some pewter cantles. Perhaps he knows where you can get brass cantles.

What I know about kilt and kit could be written on the head of a pin. Brass is easy to construct with using silver solder, and moldable for those with the right equipment. Perhaps there is a business opty here! :-)

I lived in southern Africa, and have friends in and from other parts of the continent, inclding Ethiopia. I think that a cheetah sporran would be beautiful, especially with a brass cantle along the lines of what Bluescelt recently created [see http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/m...96/index.html]. If the possibility ever presents itself to make this happen, resulting in more than one sporran, please count me in...

Was that the Harry Lauder sporran replica? Something happened to that thread - I think I posted to it, but I can't locate it now. But then again, Henry of Battenburg makes me swoon and I might'nt be operating anything complicated right now.

What a lot of people do is get the brass 1745-style cantles which were issued to all the Highland regiments from 1953 to around 1960 and put 18th century style bodies on them. I have one of these cantles I got fairly cheaply on Ebay.

Disassemble that cheetah coat carefully- every square inch of it is good for something, including cuffs on a new lady's coat, belts, and not enough sporrans to go around. Something tells me people are going to be lining up...

I'll jump in that line right now. Zebra, cheetah, just about any big or medium size game cat.
