    Great costumes. It looks like everyone had a lot of fun. I bet no one paid any attention whatsoever to the guy in the kilt!

    Actually I got noticed a little bit! I, or at least the XMarks tartan, was recognized by 3 folks who are on our forum, I must apologize that remembering names is not my strong suit, but it was nice meeting you!

    I've been approched several times at faire about the XMarks tartan, it always gets positive comments.

    I was confronted by a 30ish woman who told me very authoritatively that because she could see my knees, my kilt was too short, and that made it a skirt! I advised her that;
    A, If she came to the renfair to run around critiquing kilts she would stay busy all day on Highland weekend!
    And B, It's only a skirt if you're wearing something under it !

    I'm sure it's hard to find off the rack kilts when you are 10 feet tall, but this guy's kilt might be too long!

    I didn't post this one before, mostly because it's not that good a pic. I didn't want to chase the guy down to get a better one. I know we sometimes wonder here about folks wearing their PCs and formal kit during the day, or to Highland games etc... But this is the first time I've seen it at the renfaire!

    Giving him the benefit of the doubt, there were weddings that morning, he may have been in one of them.

    Z,

    Those outfits are not historically accurate and have very little to do with the Golden Age of piracy that flourished right around the time during (and just after) the reign of Queen Elizabeth I and...

    I love it!

    What a fun time you were all having

    Hoist that Jolly Roger, lift that bottle of rum to your lips, and sing "16 men on a Dead Man's chest"!!

    Life is to short to not stop and talk like a pirate

    (I learned this from the Dread Pyrate Jake)

    Cheers

    (and Arhhh Me hearty! ")

    Thanks Jamie!

    I mentioned to my wife that "historically" most of the pirate outfits on display that day were about 150 years 'newer' than the renaissance era, and had more to do with Johnny Depp than Francis Drake, but that was OK because they looked cooler. She wanted to know, what did a Tudor era pirate look like? I told her like anybody else from around 1600, only with a sun tan!
