You may have a hard time finding them now as they went out of issued circulation some time ago. I still have mine ( they can pry it from my cold dead fingers if they want it back ) but we've switched to fleece thermals instead of the wool. There are several army surplus stores that might have a few but you'll be paying a premium price for them.

Several friends in my hiking club have switched to fleeces as a middle layer, and seem to spend a lot of money on them! Howver they are perpetually overheating. I wear a woolly pully and retain the right bodytemperature because the wool 'breathes' with me.

Woolly pullies are still worn and issued in the British Army but are not worn as universally as before and there is a lot of synthetic cr*p.

I predict - counter to prevailing trends - a return to wool and other natural fibres and can see welcome signs of this already.

    All the best

I agree with the comments about wool pullovers maturing with age and John Norris of Penrith is a very useful resource. You might like to take a look at the following website, Black Sheep of Norfolk. I am about to collect one of their sweaters, the 'Smuggler', from David Goldie of Skipton (at a price somewhat lower than the site).

Am pleased to report that I have acquired a bottle green (i.e. Canadian coloured) version of the woolly pully through ebay - to add to the collection!

Shopkeeper at a military surplus store in Stirling claimed changes were partly because young troops no longer know how to care for wool. Picked up one of the synthetic fleece replacements there in light green - goes well with the Isle of Skye tartan.

There's something about synthetic substitutes that doesn't feel or look right. But fortunately there are still a lot of woollies available.

More likely "lowest bidder syndrome" -- that's what happened to our "wooly pullys" in the National Park Service.

Is this what you're looking for? I don't think she's included for that price, though!
