Your advice was helpful. I went to Michaels (a large Craft store chain) and bought a leather awl. Normal price was $16.99, I had a coupon for 40% off so for about $10 I now have a tool that will be useful for future sporrans, belts, etc. I stopped by Goodwill and bought an old woman's belt for $.99 purely for the buckle. Not a bad job for my first time. I think tomorrow I will take it apart and trim the ends, use my dremmel and make perfect holes. For now, here are my photos.
